The Labrador Club of Scotland Special General Meeting 19th July 2009

The Officers and Committee are grateful to the many Members who attended the Special General Meeting held on Sunday 19 July 2009.   In giving their support to the existing "team" they ensure not only the stability of the Labrador Club of Scotland but also that all club affairs and events will be conducted in a fair and principled manner.    The Executive Committee remain firm in their belief that it is the right of every member to have equal opportunity to take part and compete in any event organised and run by the club.  We are extremely grateful to the independent chairperson, George Burton, voted in by a large majority of those present.  He chaired the meeting competently and succinctly. It is now time for the Club to move forward, with everyone working together to return the Club to its rightful place at the forefront of Scottish dogdom.  Whilst we appreciate that not all members may agree with the outcome, we would hope that they would respect the wishes of the majority.  We would also like to thank the numerous Members who were unable to attend the SGM but sent messages of support.  It should also be noted that all Club`s Field Trial draws will now take place in the public arena and will be open to all Members to scrutinise.

Agenda Item 7 (Removal of the Field Trial Sub Committee) and 8 (Election of Field Trial Sub Committee), the Chair advised the meeting that these items had been included on the SGM notice on the instruction of The Kennel Club as this had been requested by the requisitioners.

The Chairman ruled that the Constitution makes provision for the Executive Committee to establish sub- committee(s). The Field Trail Sub Committee falls into this category, and they are therefore in place from one AGM until the next. Voting on this matter would be ultra vires and he did not intend to proceed with items 7 and 8.

The meeting was then formally closed.
